homemade buttermilk pancakes

homemade buttermilk pancakes

ingredients:

2 cups of all purpose flour

1/4 cup of white sugar

2 tsps of baking powder

1 tsp of baking soda

1/2 tsp of salt

1 1/2 cups + 2 tbsps of buttermilk

2 eggs

1/4 cup of butter, melted and cooled

butter, as needed for cooking

supplies:

mixing bowls

non-stick pan or griddle

directions:

in a bowl, mix the dry ingredients together, and then add in the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. next, heat a non-stick pan or griddle over medium heat. once hot, add in some butter, then add about 1/4 cup of batter. cooking the pancakes in butter is how you achieve crispy edges! cook until small bubbles appear on the top of the pancake and it looks like it has risen some, about 2-3 minutes. if need be, peak at the bottom of the pancake - it should be golden, but not burnt. flip the pancake and cook on the other side for about 2 more minutes, until cooked through. continue until all the batter is gone. serve warm.

note: this is a basic pancake recipe. feel free to add any add-ins like: blueberries, chocolate chips, etc. I suggest not adding the ingredients to the batter, but instead add it to the pancake once it’s in the skillet, before you flip it.
